C-c-c-changes.
Tony Stark has been a hero for a good portion of his adult life, but even at the height of Iron Man's activity, he was still the head of Stark Inc first. And as he gets older now and retirement starts sounding better and better, he's going to be even more focused on his company projects and interests. This means paying stricter attention to what sort of applications Stark Tech is being used for, who's using it, and where it's going.
So, here are my thoughts on what sort of changes this will bring...
1. Tony the businessman:
First and, I think, foremost he is a businessman. Yes, he is a hero, too. But, the man runs one of the most successful corporations in the world. He is the forerunner in technological innovations (the Earthly ones, anyway), provides the American government and SHIELD with the majority of their tech, secretly funds the Avengers, and has made an obscene amount of money doing it. The drunken, partying, days of excess are behind him (with that one, noticeable lapse and he paid for it in blood and a broken nose, so there!). He's too old for that shit now. And he's anything but wasteful.
What this means is, for example, no more AIs being handed out to anyone who wants one. The exception to the AI rule would have been if Anya had remained and chosen to market her LMD pets like Greta. And even then, they would have been sold, with a few possible exceptions. Since she did not, and I can't see him stealing his daughter's design, this won't be the case. In my opinion, AIs are extremely advanced tech even in this universe and should remain rare and special. Also? They are damn expensive to just be handing out. He's a businessman. Free samples are for bakers.
2. Lab and Company Access:
I would like for him to also be a responsible businessman. Which means more restricted access to the labs and research facilities.
The lab restrictions are based on good sense limitations. General, all access labs with little fiddly bits and general sorts of equipment will be more open. The very advanced, extremely high tech, research labs with the top secret stuff and very expensive/rare/advanced/dangerous components will be restricted to those who have the necessary credentials to use them. There are, of course, labs in between and can be accessed on a case by case basis.
Also, unless Tony himself says otherwise, anything produced in Stark Labs and produced using Stark Tech or parts is the property of Stark Inc. Keep that in mind. Again... a businessman.
3. Pushing up daisies:
Tony has plans for what will happen to the various branches of his company and other assets when he finally shuffles off the mortal coil. Of course, what he decides today could very well change in a month or a year. Nothing is set in stone yet.
I may expand this list as I consider his direction more, but that's it for now. Questions? :)
